My First Trip

We all have that memory that jumps out at us as the first trip we have ever taken. For me, that was traveling to the Northwoods of Wisconsin. My family would travel up there every summer where we would spend time hiking, biking, kayaking, and everything else a family does.

It is not just one memory that pops out to me, but rather the feeling that the place elicits. When you’re all the way in the Northwoods on a hike, the only thing you can hear are the crunching of leaves and branches under your feet along with your slightly labored breathing. In nature there is a unique sense of peace as you take in the natural beauty around you. As you bike along the paths, you laugh unrestrained as the wind tickles your face. And as you paddle along the lake in your kayak, a serene smile takes over your face as you feel the boat gently rock underneath you.

The Northwoods are where I can truly relax as there are few people around and all you can see are trees and lakes. At night, there is so little light pollution, you can see the stars go on forever. This is where my memories of travel start and where I always want to go. In our home, laughter filled the house at night as we played 500 Rummy and other board games.

Thank you for listening and I hope to take you on another adventure soon!
